Art Appreciation: A critical examination of art works from c.1300 to the present day. The emphasis is on group participation. Developing skills in examining artworks; artistic techniques; cultural context; patronage; artistic autonomy; the role of artists in society and the reception of artworks over time. The group has one vacancy.
In the past we have examined artworks in a fairly chronological order from the early Renaissance to the present day. We have also looked at non-western art – the art of China and the art of the Indian sub-continent.
Currently we are re-engaged with western art from the Renaissance onwards but now going at a much slower pace and in more detail.
Groups are only open to members of Fordingbridge and District u3a. For enquiries about membership contact the Membership Secretary
